This past weekend, Double Kick fighter Matias Brobeck stepped into the ring in Long Beach, CA, for the WBC Muay Thai MTAAC event, hosted by Mission Muay Thai and the United 8 Federation. It was a masterclass in technical striking and heart that left the crowd on their feet.
Matias started the fight with surgical precision. All those hours in the gym drilling the overhand right paid off instantly. Late in the first, he timed the shot perfectly, dropping his opponent and forcing an 8-count. It was a dominant start that set the tone for the match.
The momentum shifted in the second as his opponent showed incredible recovery. Coming out aggressive, his opponent initiated a heavy clinch game. Despite Matias’ efforts to stay technical, the opponent’s control in the clinch gave him the edge, evening the playing field heading into the final frame.
The final round was a true "pick-em" for the judges. Matias went back to what he does best—staying on the outside and picking his opponent apart with clean striking. However, his opponent stayed relentless, repeatedly pulling Matias back into the clinch to neutralize the range.
When the dust settled, the scorecards reflected just how close the contest was:
The fight was ruled a Majority Draw. While not the win we aimed for, Matias proved that his power and technique belong on the big stage. We are incredibly proud of his discipline and the way he represented the Double Kick family!
